Sunshine in a bottle! What can’t calendula do, it’s an absolute staple in my families household for everything. If I could recommend just one herb to ever work with that is an amazing ally for most things, it would be Calendula.
Calendula has long been worked with, deep in our ancestral roots for its soothing restorative properties. The flowers with its potent stick resin is a powerful anti-inflammatory and skin healer.
Calendula is a potent oil to use for inflamed skin condition such as psoriasis and eczema. Gentle enough to use on any are of the body including the face, the scalp, general skin dryness and even nappy rash.
Contains natural compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, and triterpenoids which all help reduce redness and swelling while speeding up the skin’s ability to repair itself. It’s especially helpful for sensitive or reactive skin, as it calms irritation and supports the skin’s barrier function.
One of the most beloved uses of calendula oil is in wound care. It has antimicrobial properties that help prevent infection in minor cuts, scrapes, and abrasions. A great herbal ally to reach for when treating burns, sunburns, or cracked skin, as it encourages tissue regeneration and reduces discomfort. Some studies suggest that calendula may also promote collagen production, which is essential for firm, healthy skin. It’s a popular ingredient in post-surgical care, where it supports healing and minimises scarring.
Women have also turned to calendula oil for centuries to support reproductive health. It can be applied externally to ease discomfort from vaginal dryness, inflammation, or irritation. Calendula is often used in natural remedies for yeast infections and to promote perineal healing after childbirth. Gentle enough for babies, yet effective enough for more chronic conditions.
Spiritually Calendula oil can be used to anoint your third eye and crown chakra to invite in abundance, protection & joy.
